Shop FAQ and Policies

Overland Teardrop Trailer exists to help you build your camping dreams in your own teardrop trailer.  Our shop policies answer your most frequently asked questions about how my shop operates.

Of course, I’m always happy to answer more specific questions.  If you have one that isn’t answered here, contact us.

Physical items that are new (haven’t been installed or used) can be returned within 30 days of delivery.  

Customers are responsible for return shipping and for providing accurate ship-to addresses.

Returned parts will be refunded once inspected and found to be in new unused- condition.  Damaged/installed parts will be refunded up to 50% of the sale price.

Customers are responsible for packing the return item(s) just as they were shipped.  Any items that are damaged because return packaging may not be refunded (depending on the condition of the returned parts).

Full trailer kits can be refunded at 100% until shipped or picked up locally.  Returns of full trailer kits will be refunded up to 75% of the cost of the kit once the entire kit has been inspected and found to be in new-unused condition with no parts missing.

ALL sales of “Take the Trail” items are final (Including clothing, mugs, and accessories).

Orders that are returned due to an inaccurate address can be reshipped within 7 days at the customer’s expense.  Simply email support@overlandtrailer.com to request a reshipment.
We recommend insurance on all return orders.

You can cancel an item in an order or the entire order anytime before your packages ship.  Send us a note to support@overlandtrailer.com and let us know how you’d like to adjust your order and we’ll take care of it for you.

Any refunds are processed through the original payment method.

Any item that you’d like to return after it has already shipped will need to follow the returns policy.  We do not refund the cost of shipping on any packages on which you refuse delivery.

Since digital plans, videos, schematics, and other downloads are immediately delivered, all such orders cannot be canceled.

If you cancel your payment after the order has started shipping, we will contest it. Please watch your email box for tracking information and other communication to avoid rash decisions.

When you order, please provide a safe place to receive your packages. 

Overland Trailer is not responsible for packages that are stolen after they are confirmed delivered and shipping insurance does not cover the stolen packages.

In the event your kit, parts, or plans arrived damaged, we have 30 days from the shipment date to file a claim. Please inspect your packages as soon as they arrive, and if you have any damage during transport please email us before this 30-day window with a brief description and pictures of all damaged items and shipping containers (boxes, crates, etc).

Please do not refuse your package.  We pack our shipments in a way that is designed to protect the contents even while the crate or box may arrive damaged on the outside.  Please receive and inspect your items, and then contact us if anything is damaged so that we can arrange for replacements as necessary.

Items that are damaged in transit and returned to Overland Trailer by the shipping company -before delivery to you – the shipment will be replaced once the damaged item has been inspected by Overland Trailer.  Sometimes a shipping company returns an item when it is just the box that is damaged but the product is fine. It is also the case that shipping companies provide delayed or incomplete information in their tracking software.  Your patience is appreciated as both you and Overland Trailer are at the mercy of shipping companies.  We will do our absolute best with your order as much as we are able.

Whether the item is damaged or not, your order will ship the day after it is inspected at Overland Trailer.

Yes!  We currently ship to Canada, Ireland, UK, and Australia.

If you do not see a shipping option in the store, please message us at the contact page and we will get a shipping quote for your location.

Then, we can make a custom order form for you and get your item(s) shipped out to you.

All international shipments are subject to customs and duties fees, which are not included in your shipping costs.  We recommend you verify these fees with your local customs office before we finalize your order.

Current demand for teardrop trailers and parts is high.  Backorders are common.  We fill orders in the order in which they were placed (no exceptions).

Most part backorders are filled in 2 weeks but occasionally 4 (when an order is placed we always give an estimated time).

Our custom teardrop trailer kits are made to order and average shipping dates are 6 weeks from the time of ordering to shipping out.

Occasionally, it is necessary for us to email to ask a question about your order before shipping.  It is helpful, when you order, if you use an email address that you check regularly.

If there is no email response to our questions in 5 business days, we will ship the order to the best of our ability on the 5th business day -assuming the item isn’t backordered. 

Any later corrections to that order after it has shipped may result in additional shipping or product fees.

In 2023 we’re offering a new line of teardrop trailer kits for our broader camping community!

Our kits are already being built in our local area of North Idaho and they sell fast.

We’re working to make these kits as inexpensive as possible to ship and we’re still working on a few details (how it’s packed, and negotiations with shipping companies).  At this time, accurate shipping quotes are not available.

We’re really excited to share our exact manufacturing plans with the DIY community.

These are the plans that we’ve made trailers from since 2009.

The plans are currently being developed at a breakneck speed but with a strong eye for detail and accuracy. 

It includes a full-size set of patterns/templates and a physical flip guide with links to digital resources (instructional videos and websites).

Requests for fabrication or customization may not be possible for us to do in-house.  However, we’re happy to offer suggestions for solutions.

Any requests that we can do in-house are subject to the cost of labor ($50 minimum) + the cost of any extra materials/parts.

When accepted, these requests will be invoiced separately (through email) from an order by one of the good humans at Overland Trailer.

If you dispute a bank transaction without communication with Overland Trailer, we may accept a return or cancel the order and, if we refund the transaction, it will be minus the banking fees for the dispute.

Usually, if you communicate directly with us before disputing a transaction with your bank, we can come to a good solution.

Items that are non-refundable are things that are personalized (custom camp signs), printed on demand (Shirts, Hoodies, Mugs), and any custom part requests that are fulfilled.
